Gibson L4-C 1953 Acoustic Archtop

The guitar is in immaculate condition, for a 70 years old guitar. This is one of the reasons, that Gibson guitars, are a true leader in vintage collectibles and playable guitars.

This one is made in 1953, USA handcrafted, hand carved select spruce top, with tight grains, and laminated back and sides in maple and mahogany.

The neck is in mahogany, with a rosewood fretboard, no finger-grooves, or busted inlays, the frets are still good, but could need a replacement in a couple of years. 

This particular guitar was bought used in Copenhagen from a collector in 2002.

The guitar is almost mint, and only the tailpiece has been replaced, with a 60s Kluson lightweight aluminum curved one.

The tailpiece was supposed to be set on, after the original Gibson trapeze, broke in the hinges, in the late 60s.

 It fits the guitar perfectly and takes some of the weight of the standard trapeze 3 diamonds tailpieces from Gibson.

 Only the outline of the old tailpiece is visable on the top binding, at the bottom of the guitar, two small grooves, indentations remains of the trapeze tailpiece.

There is a 1956-58 mccarty P90 pickup attatched, the pickup can be removed by talking two screws of, and the guitar is fully acustic.

The pickup sounds great, very oldschool, and adds to the whole look of the timecapsule this guitar is.

Soundwise, it’s a bomb, very loud and bassy, perfeck for that old time, rag, swing, gypsystyle and bossa nova.

The guitar is currently setup with 0.12 thomastik swing, flatwound strings. Comes with a Gibson hardcase from a 1998 Es-175

Die Gitarre ist für eine 70 Jahre alte Gitarre in einem tadellosen Zustand. Dies ist einer der Gründe, warum Gibson-Gitarren ein wahrer Marktführer bei Vintage-Sammlerstücken und spielbaren Gitarren sind.

Dieses Modell wurde 1953 in den USA handgefertigt und verfügt über eine handgeschnitzte Decke aus ausgewählter Fichte mit dichter Maserung sowie laminiertem Boden und Zargen aus Ahorn und Mahagoni.

Der Hals ist aus Mahagoni, mit einem Griffbrett aus Palisander, ohne Fingerrillen oder kaputte Einlagen. Die Bünde sind noch in Ordnung, könnten aber in ein paar Jahren einen Austausch benötigen.

Diese besondere Gitarre wurde 2002 gebraucht in Kopenhagen von einem Sammler gekauft.

Die Gitarre ist fast neuwertig und nur der Saitenhalter wurde durch einen leichten, gebogenen Saitenhalter aus den 60er-Jahren von Kluson aus Aluminium ersetzt.

Der Saitenhalter sollte aufgesetzt werden, nachdem die Scharniere des originalen Gibson-Trapezes Ende der 60er Jahre gebrochen waren.

Es passt perfekt zur Gitarre und nimmt einen Teil des Gewichts der standardmäßigen Trapez-Saitenhalter mit 3 Diamanten von Gibson auf.

Auf der Oberkante ist nur noch der Umriss des alten Saitenhalters zu erkennen, an der Unterseite der Gitarre sind zwei kleine Rillen, Vertiefungen, Reste des Trapez-Saitenhalters.

Es ist ein McCarty P90-Tonabnehmer von 1956-58 angebracht, der Tonabnehmer kann mit zwei Schrauben entfernt werden, und die Gitarre ist voll akustisch.

Der Tonabnehmer klingt großartig, sehr altmodisch und trägt zum Gesamtbild der Zeitkapsel dieser Gitarre bei.

Klanglich ist es eine Bombe, sehr laut und bassig, perfekt für die alte Zeit, Rag, Swing, Gypsystyle und Bossa Nova.

Die Gitarre ist derzeit mit 0,12 Thomastik Swing Flatwound-Saiten ausgestattet. Wird mit einem Gibson-Hardcase einer Es-175 von 1998 geliefert
